Bench Signal #011 — three things from the bench, every Tuesday.

① This week's tip
iPhone 14 Pro screen replacement, proximity sensor stuck reading "covered" even with nothing near it. Before ordering a new sensor or condemning the replacement glass, check the sensor window for the factory protective film.
Some replacement screens ship with a thin film over the sensor cutouts that's easy to miss under normal light. It blocks the sensor just enough to misread. Peel it, retest, before you touch anything else.

② Prompt of the week
Use this to build a maintenance plan offer you can start pitching this week:
I run an independent Apple repair lab. Build me a one-page maintenance plan offer: €39/year per device, two scheduled visits (battery health check, port and speaker clean, software update check, written diagnostic snapshot), priority booking between visits, and a 10% discount on any repair during the plan period. Include a short pitch script, under 40 words, I can say at the counter right after handing back a repaired device.
Say the script at every handoff this week, not just the ones that feel like a fit. You won't know who says yes until you ask.

③ Resource this week
Free, open source scheduling tool. Useful for booking the twice-a-year maintenance visits without a back-and-forth of messages, especially once you've got more than a handful of plan customers to track.

That's it for this week.
If this was useful, forward it to a colleague who'd appreciate it.
