① This week's tip

iPhone shows "No Service" right after a screen replacement, and the SIM works fine in another phone. Before blaming the baseband or the board, open the device again and check the SIM tray seating and the antenna flex contacts near the bottom edge.

A tray that sits a fraction of a millimetre off, or a flex pressed under the new display's frame, is enough to kill the signal. Reseat both, power on and test with a call before you touch anything else.

Five minutes. No parts.

② Prompt of the week

Use this to write the spoken answer for "I saw the part online" or "I can do it through Apple's program":

I run an independent Apple repair lab. Write a spoken value script, under 60 words, for when a customer says they saw the part online or can do the repair themselves through Apple's Self Service Repair program. It should explain what my price includes: diagnosis, repair with professional tools, a full function test, and a [X]-month warranty. Calm, confident, no criticism of the DIY option. Then write a one-line version for the bottom of a written quote.

Put your real warranty period in place of [X]. Add the one-liner to every quote this week.

③ Resource this week

Apple Self Service Repair: support.apple.com/self-service-repair

The program page, with the manuals and the parts catalogue. Read it once as a customer would. You'll know exactly what your price is being compared against.

That's it for this week.

If this was useful, forward it to a colleague who'd appreciate it.
